Williamsburg Guidebook Featured in the Daily Press
July 23rd, 2010
Author Lisa Oliver Monroe and her book, Williamsburg: With Jamestown and Yorktown, America’s Historic Triangle, were featured on July 23 in the Daily Press, a Newport News-area newspaper.
Columnists Dan Parsons and Tyra Vaughn says that the series “aims to provide information about specific locations, which are more often found as inclusions in books covering larger regions.”
Monroe’s introduction is also quoted. ”A visit to Williamsburg is, for many visitors, a step back in time,” she says. “While the area offers many of the modern conveniences of a thriving tourist town, it still evokes an historic sense of place. It preserves part of the American legacy.”

April 22nd, 2010
Author Lisa Oliver Monroe contributed a feature article to the Richmond Grid magazine. In the article, Monroe discusses her process for writing Williamsburg: With Jamestown and Yorktown, America’s Historic Triangle.
“The best part of the experience for me,” Monroe is quoted as saying, “was revisiting the history, which raised as many questions in my mind as were answered.”
While performing research, Monroe comments: “Did you know there’s a shop at Busch Gardens that sells hand-knitted wool sweaters imported from Ireland? After about five months and 20 or so trips to Williamsburg, I can now tell you not only the name of the shop that sells the sweater, but how to get there and how much they cost.”
