To get your free copy, send a self-addressed envelope capable of holding a 5.5″ x 8.5″ paperback book (an 8.5″ x 11″ padded envelope works well) with a stamp for $3.00 (or 7 first-class stamps), to the address below:

Make sure you also send a note indicating which of the above books you would like to receive. If you prefer, you may send the $3.00 stamp (or 7 first-class stamps) without an envelope – just include your name, address and book title on a note. We will use a regular paper envelope to ship your book.
We will send your book out within 1-2 business days after receipt. The book will be shipped first class from New York. If you are international, please include enough postage to ship a paperback book from New York to your home. No purchase is necessary, or obligation required, to receive your free copy. There is a maximum of one book per outer envelope.
These guides are in brand-new condition, and perfect for your next vacation! They are out of date, so Channel Lake, Inc. makes no guarantees as to the accuracy of the information. But hey, it’s free!
Supplies are extremely limited, so request your copy soon to ensure that it is still in stock!
Why are we doing this? Two reasons: (1) to make good use of our remaining inventory before releasing new editions, and (2) to get the word out about Tourist Town Guides.
We will not use your contact information for any reason other than to send you a book. We will not add you to any mailing list, and we will not sell or rent your information to anybody for any purpose. We promise, your name and address will only be used to ship your free book.
THIS IS NOT A PROMOTION, we are simply reducing out inventory. Supplies are limited, and this offer may be cancelled at any time without notice. Please request your free book before October 31, 2009.
Clinton Daily News reviews Kirschenmann’s Black Hills book
In the Books Are My Bag section of the paper, columnist Dee Ann Ray provides some insight into Kirschenmann’s book. The guide is part of the Tourist Town Guides series, which, as Ray points out, “is very well done.”
Ray describes some of the research that went into the book: “[Kirschenmann] and his wife went all over South Dakota checking out tourist attractions, accommodations, restaurants, and much more.” She then describes the book as being “divided into quadrants of the state… [making it] possible to plan stops in an organized manner.”
“There is good indexing and even a price guide to accommodations and restaurants,” Ray continues. “Kirschenmann’s book is a great addition to a traveling library or car book shelf.”
The review first appeared in the Clinton Daily News on July 2, 2009.
Jay Kirschenmann signs books and tours Wall Drug
July 11th, 2009
On Sunday, June 14, 2009, Jay Kirschenmann signed copies of his Black Hills guidebook at Wall Drug in Wall, South Dakota. Kirschenmann also created a video about the attraction, including an interview with the store’s co-owner.
Frankenmuth author Lynn Klammer and her daughter were interviewed on ABC 12 Mid-Michigan. Larry Elliott asked Klammer about what makes the guidebook different from the other available information about Frankenmuth.
“What’s really unique,” Klammer said, “is that [the book] includes a lot of geology information, [and] a lot of history about the town. It includes things that are commonly asked by tourists.”
Klammer’s daughter was also involved in the book’s production as a research assistant. When asked about including her family in her projects, Klammer said, “The big part of why I write is so that I can include the kids.”
Kirschenmann will be holding additional book signings in the Sioux Falls/Black Hills area in the coming weeks:
June 11 – 3 p.m. at Wall Drug, Wall, S.D.
June 13 – 1 p.m. at Waldenbooks, 2200 N. Maple Ave, Rapid City, S.D.
June 18th – Barnes & Noble in Sioux Falls, SD (time TBD)
Waldenbooks, Sioux Empire Mall, Sioux Falls, SD (date TBD)

BookExpo America 2009, May 29-31
May 31st, 2009
BookExpo America, an annual event for the American publishing industry (and some international interests), was held this year at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. For the event, Tourist Town Guides has a booth within the Midpoint Trade Books section.
Day 1: Friday, May 29, 9:00AM – 5:00PM:
BookExpo America 2009 kicked off today at the Javits Center. The Tourist Town Guides booth has on display the 2009 books, and samples for vendors and bookstores to browse. The day was spent handing out flyers to book buyers, libraries, and other interested parties.
Day 2: Saturday, May 30, 2009, 9:00AM – 5:00PM:
The Midpoint Trade Books section (booth #3240) continued throughout the day to buzz with a constant stream of activity. Midpoint generates a lot of foot traffic for its publishers, given the booth’s central location and their comprehensive marketing.
Day 3: Sunday, May 31, 2009, 9:00AM – 3:00PM:
The last day of the show was the slowest, but there was still constant activity within the Midpoint booth.
